I grew up inside music — not around it, inside it.
My dad was a maestro, the kind of man who didn’t just conduct orchestras but lived in a world where every gesture had rhythm. Because of his work and his PhDs, we travelled constantly across South and North America. My childhood wasn’t rooted in one place; it was rooted in sound.
Every city had its own tempo.
Every country had its own pulse.
And every home we lived in had instruments leaning against walls like family members. I even had an older brother in the form of an antique Di Giorgio guitar, my dad’s pride and joy.
That’s where it started.
I didn’t learn one instrument — I learned life through instruments.
- Piano — discipline, patience, the art of slowing down (and I cannot stress just how much I hated every class… Loved the piano though. Wish I had stuck to it… But my teacher could never communicate with me in a way I would engage… So I gave up.
- Violin — precision, emotion, the beauty of tension… And blooded fingers… No… I found out very quickly it wasn’t for me.
- Guitar — storytelling, freedom, campfire philosophy… That one I stuck by. I still play when in the mood. Love jazz, blues and anything that gets the rhythm of my heart going… But as my sister started to excel on it, I kinda lost the love for it.
- Saxophone — soul, swagger, late‑night introspection… Or at least I wish it would be… I think I lasted a couple of months before I decided that I didn’t like the sounds I made with it and that it sounded NOTHING like what I heard growing up… That and my cousin was amazing at it, and since I was always very competitive, my ADHD brain decided to just say… Nah…
But then… everything changed.
Because one day I sat behind a drum kit — and the world snapped into focus.
And my teacher was absolutely amazing too. We started with Rock and Blues. Jazz and Bossa Nova. The partitures and the notes in there just made sense. I went into percussion as well, and the rest is history.
Drums weren’t just an instrument.
They were a homecoming.
Percussion felt like the heartbeat of every place I’d lived.
It was movement, travel, chaos, rhythm — all the things that shaped me.
And once you fall in love with rhythm, you start chasing it everywhere.
That’s how I ended up DJing for a while.
Not because I wanted to be a DJ, but because it was the next natural step in a life built on beats. I was always very good with anything that involved computers as well, so it just made sense. Digital vibes that calmed my mind and fed my soul.
And from DJing, I moved into producing parties all over the world — Brazil, USA, Europe, everywhere the music carried me. It wasn’t a career choice.. I kinda landed on it when my friends thought it would be fun… And we just took it to another level. It was a continuation of the story my dad started when he put a baton in his hand and a passport in mine.
Amy’s story runs parallel to mine in the most beautiful way.
She grew up with two constants:
music and ponies.
Both require rhythm, connection, and instinct — and she has all three.
She was a DJ too, long before we met.
She lived inside the trance community, not as a spectator but as part of its heartbeat. Trance isn’t just a genre for her; it’s a place where she feels alive, connected, and understood.
And when we met, our stories didn’t collide — they synced.
Music has always been a huge part of her life, just like mine.
Everything we’ve lived — the travel, the instruments, the decks, the festivals, the ponies, the trance nights, the messy bits, the beautiful bits — it all leads here.
Portable Vibes isn’t a brand.
It’s not a project.
It’s not a podcast or a platform.
It’s our life philosophy. (Wow… it really feels like I went deep in that one!)
It’s the idea that vibes aren’t tied to a place — they’re carried within you.
They travel with you.
They evolve with you.
They survive the chaos with you.
We want to share that with everyone:
- Life — the real, unfiltered humanity as it goes…
- Love — the connection, the growth, the vulnerability, communication and the lack thereof. Where it all connects, and we don’t particularly know where, but it makes sense when it happens.
- Music — the heartbeat of everything… We have it in the car, at home, while we work and even randomly in our heads. And we go with it. It takes us higher, and this is why we want to share, with every post, a new piece of the soundtrack of life.
- Chaos — the unpredictable, the wild, the honest… Life in its rawest form. And to be fair, we’re here for that, because from the chaos comes some of the best lessons we can learn or teach from.
Portable Vibes is us — and now it’s something we want to share with the world.
